The Story Behind The Design: Colin McRae Subaru Impreza WRC T-Shirt

Back in the day, when ESPN – Star Sports, was the go-to channel for all motorsports, World Rally Championship (WRC) was very popular among petrol heads in India. It was the era when you either supported the red Mitsubishi Evo or the blue Subaru Impreza.

Personally, there was this one driver that stood out, Colin McRae. There are stats like the youngest World Rally Champion, the first Scottish driver to win the Championship, and the list goes on. More than the three titles and all the wins, he was spectacular in attacking every corner and sometimes, it worked against him. He drove at the very edge of losing control and when he loses it, he was often called Colin McCrash. He was pure rock-and-roll on wheels and rose became fan favorite.

Perhaps the most recent and fan favorite moment is his recovery after rolling his Subaru in an X-Games event in LA.As a fan, it would only make sense to design this particular t-shirt as a tribute to one of my favorite rally driver. We had to incorporate the Subaru Impreza. The three stars below his name indicate the three championships and lastly, we had to top it with his quote: “if in doubt, go flat out”.
